It
was a fascination with birds that first led Paul to pick up his
first camera. As a keen ornithologist, Paul wanted to record the
many birds he watched on various reserves in his home county of
Lancashire. An increasing interest in the natural world led him
to pursue a degree in Zoology which he completed in 2000. Now
aged 30, and based in West Yorkshire, Paul has progressed from
the days of the old manual focus Zenit to a professional digital
SLR, and still regularly uses medium format to capture Yorkshire
scenery. Paul is completely self-taught and has learnt most of
his skill from experimenting in the field. With the world famous
Yorkshire Dales on his doorstep, Paul never fails to find inspiration
as well as new locations to photograph. His landscape images have
been used by various magazines and appear on calendars produced
by leading U.K. publishers. Written features are a major part
of Paul's work, and he regularly writes on the subjects of photography
and natural history. Paul is one of only 20 photographers
to be contracted by Natural England to provide imagery. |
